  • What if I don't know if this will work for me?
We can start with one room or space at a time, see if the organization has helped you and we’ll move on to the next space. I don't have any minimum amount of time required. I'm only here to help!
  • What if my home is the WORST and most MESSY home you've ever seen?
Every. Single. Client. says this as I walk in the door. I promise you, you are not the worst. I do what I do for a reason! We all need guidance sometimes and you wouldn't have called me if your house was all set to go.
  • Once I'm organized, will it stay that way forever and ever?
Um no. But it will be a heck of a lot easier to reorganize a space if it starts out in an organized place. Think of it like deep cleaning your shower- you don't need to do it every day, but over time it will begin to unravel because you LIVE in your home. Live, Organize, Repeat.
  • Do I have to be there during the organizing process?
This depends on the situation and your preference. Some clients prefer to work side-by-side and be very involved in the whole process. Some clients prefer a more hands-off method until it comes to deciding on what items to keep. I can be flexible to you and can work in any way you feel comfortable.
  • I don’t want to give anything away, will I still be able to see results?
This is a tough one. We can move items around to make things more accessible IF you have the space for it. Usually we have too much stuff and not enough space. If it’s the opposite, then we’re good to go! If you don't have the space for all the "stuff"- it's time to let go of some of it. I can guide you and serve as a sounding board and help you through that process. ZERO judgement! I have all the stuff too, trust me!
  • I'm ready for some help! How do I get started?
Call or Text 303-931-1466 or email erica.calmyourspace@gmail.com to set up a free Needs Assessment!
  • My whole house is a mess! Where should I start?
I usually recommend a high traffic space like a kitchen, office or bathroom. Organization systems in even one main space will make a world of difference in your daily life.
  • What exactly is a Home Organizer and how does this work?
I offer a personal, professional organizing service, where I come to your home, help remove all belongings in a space(s) of your choice, sort it and help you make decisions on how to edit it down. I then put it back in a way that makes sense to you. It's a simple idea with amazing, life changing results.
  • I’m so stressed out all the time already, so the thought of figuring out a system for organization is overwhelming. Where do I start?
Oftentimes the reason we’re so stressed is BECAUSE of the clutter and disorganization in our surroundings. Call or text me now to help you determine where to start and how. One small space at a time can make a huge difference in your daily life.
  • How long will it take to organize my space?
This answer fully depends on how much "stuff" we're going through, how big your space is and how quickly you make decisions on what to keep.
  • Will my home look like Instagram when you're done?
If you want the Insta-Home I can give it to you! Will it cost more? Yes. Will it stay that way? See above! Live, Organize, Repeat. Instagram isn't a sustainable goal folks!
  • Why should I hire an organizer instead of just doing it myself?
Organizing can be emotional and overwhelming- I'm here to bear some of that burden. Also sometimes it’s helpful to have someone there to hold you accountable and requires you to “schedule” the time and commit to getting it done. If you’re on this website, there’s a reason!
  • If I just want some ideas or to create a plan, but want to do the actual work myself, do you offer that service?
Definitely! I am always happy to give advice and assess a space at no cost. Also there is always the option to take care of the editing/ decision-making ahead of time and then contact me to put it all back in a way that makes sense. I'm always here to help, no matter how much you want me to be involved.
  • Do you offer Gift Cards?
Yes! It's the perfect gift for the person on your list who has "everything" -- literally. :) Who doesn't want someone to come clean out their junk drawers amiright? Contact me for a Gift Card today.
  • Do you offer discounted rates for regular customers?
Yes. If I have already organized your space and you want me to come back just to get it back in order every few months or once a year, I can offer a discounted hourly rate.
  • How much does it cost to hire an organizer?
For my personalized service I charge $70 an hour. If your situation is more extreme (more stuff and a bigger space) the hourly rate can be as high as $90. All Garages and Basements are $90/ hour. I will assess the space during the free 30 minute consultation to confirm the cost.
  • Do you sell unwanted items?
Sometimes! It is a lot of effort to sell items and I can recommend a service for this if you have many things to sell. However, I always recommend donation over selling. Often times I find you will earn more money by donating an item and using it as a tax deduction.
  • Do you haul unwanted items?
I will be happy to take up to 4 bags per trip of trash/ unwanted items with me and recycle, repurpose or donate them for you. (This is especially helpful if you are donating your child’s toys! “But I love that stuffie! I play with it ALL the time!”) I will provide you with a tax-deductable donation receipt.
  • Should I buy some organizing bins before we get started?
Generally speaking, no. Being organized starts with having less, not buying more. It’s a common mistake to go buy a bunch of organizing bins and tools, but then still not be able to contain your stuff in a thoughtful way. Once we clear the items you don’t need, we can use your existing organizing bins successfully OR determine what bins we actually need to make the system work for you.
  • Do you provide Organizing bins and systems?
If you do end up needing baskets or bins or other organizing tools, I am happy to provide them at an extra cost, or I can send product suggestions. I do not design or install closet systems but I can recommend options for companies who do this and then come back to organize your new space!
  • Where can I go to get some basic organizing ideas?
Explore my Gallery of tips and ideas to make life a little easier.
  • I just moved in to my home- when should I hire an organizer?
This depends again on your preference. Some clients like to have someone helping to unload boxes, as well as put things away. Some clients like to unload boxes themselves, get a little settled and then contact me to set up their new organization systems. Sometimes it's helpful to live in your new space for a bit to determine where you would like to put things.
  • I'm selling my home- do my closets and cabinets need to be organized?
YES! When people are looking for a new home they will peak into every part of your house. Drawers, cabinets, closets- it all needs to be in top top shape so it reflects how you took care of the home.
  • How often should I reorganize a space?
Things get busy and life changes- it's a good rule of thumb to clean out and organize all regularly used spaces at least once a year. Also if you can't open or close a drawer- it's time. If you aren't putting something away because you don't know where it goes- it's time.
  • Is "Covid Clutter" really a thing?
YES! We were trapped in our homes and under major amounts of stress for years. Those two things combined are the perfect storm for clutter to get out of control. Let me help dig you out so you can de-stress and love your home again.
  • Do you have a team for a large project?
I don't have a team because I think it can get overwhelming to have more than one person involved in this process. I like to work one-on-one with clients and give a very personal experience. If you need or want a team, I have reccomendations! Contact me today!
  • What’s the most disorganized part of your home?
The GARAGE. It tends to be a dumping ground for us. My husband is a “saver” which doesn’t always bode well for us. My three kids play in our garage and back yard all the time too so life just “happens” in there. We’re working on it! I tell him all the time to close the garage door because it’s bad for business! Funny but true!
  • How do you keep your kids organized?
Being organized is, like anything else, a trait that you're born with. I have one child that is very organized and two that are "less" organized. As they've gotten older, I've tried to teach organization as a life skill. We go through their rooms and closets twice a year to clear the clutter and re-organize. It doesn't always stay that way... but as long as we can find what we need, when we need it, that's what is important. If we are struggling to find things, that's the cue to straighten up, and it's important that they know that cue as they get older.
  • Is your house always tidy and clean?
Uh yes? Just kidding, no. But when it’s time to straighten up, we can do it quickly. Every “thing” has a home, and if it doesn’t have a home, we find it one!
  • Who do you like better, Marie Kondo or The Home Edit?
I like Marie Kondo’s organizing philosophy but I love the style and design The Home Edit brings to their clients. I do like rainbows in general (who doesn't?!), however I don't think organizing in rainbows always makes sense.
  • What is your organizing philosophy?
Organized does not equal perfect. It's about finding what you need, when you need it. And being able to close the drawer...
